See what selling options are available to you from the services below:
Selling with PrivateAuto
PrivateAuto is the most effective way to list your own vehicle for sale on AutoTempest. Plus, their platform extends beyond just the listing. They're the first transactional marketplace that includes identity verification, an eBill of Sale, and instant transfer of funds. They enable you to close the sale, as a buyer or seller, anytime, anyplace!
By using code AUTOTEMPEST you can waive the listing fee, and you'll only pay the closing fee if your vehicle sells.
Learn more about selling with PrivateAutoSelling with Cars.com
Cars.com offers the best of both worlds - you can get an instant offer from a local dealership in just a few minutes, or you can choose to list on Cars.com (creating a listing is completely free!) and sell your vehicle yourself.
Get an instant cash offer from a local dealer in just a few minutes. There's no catch - all you have to do is enter a few details about your car, receive your offer, and then head over to the dealer to get a quick inspection of your car to confirm everything lines up with the details you provided. This option is ideal for sellers that want a quick & convenient experience.
Rather sell your car yourself? Cars.com offers free listings so you can easily get your vehicle in front of millions of car shoppers, of course appearing for Autotempest users too.
When using Secure Checkout, their premium service that is free for sellers, you get identity verification to protect you from scams, a safe and secure escrow for funds & payment options when you’re ready to make a sale.
Selling with Carvana
Carvana also offers two options to sell your vehicle with them, which we've outlined below. They also offer vehicle pickup, depending on your location, which can make the selling process fairly hands-off. Finally, unless the car has been misrepresented, you can count on getting the price quoted in the online offer.
Trade-in is offered when you sell your vehicle as part of the purchase process toward a new vehicle. This can be beneficial in minimizing state sales taxes.
Even if you're not buying a car from Carvana, you can still sell to them. After answering a few questions about your vehicle, all online, you'll receive a firm offer.
In our experience, Carvana is one of the most hassle-free options for selling your car. The online process is quite quick, as they are able to look up most of the information for your car just using the plate number. And once you have a quote, that process to actually pick up the car and finish the deal is very straightforward and quick.

Hemmings specializes in classic collector cars, so if your car is a classic, they're likely your best option to attract the right audience. They will accept other vehicles as well though, so they're worth considering regardless. Hemmings offers three distinct methods to list, all of which will also appear prominently in AutoTempest results:
Get your car sold in as little as one week, with a fast-paced online auction and exposure through Hemmings' dedicated auction emails. Includes a Free CARFAX report with all accepted vehicles manufactured after 1981.
Sell your car directly to registered buyers, who make offers that you can respond to in real time. Includes priority placement in their marketplace.
The classic way to list, Hemmings classifieds are seen by more than 165,000 Hemmings Motor News subscribers (and, again, on AutoTempest!)
Selling with Cars & Bids
If your car is a bit cool or unique and you're open to an auction platform, then Cars & Bids is also worth checking out. It costs nothing to list your vehicle with them, and again, your car will also show up on AutoTempest. (Buyers pay a 4.5% commission on top of the sale price, up to $4500.) They focus on 1980's and newer vehicles. Below are the two different types of auctions they offer:
A reserve auction has a secret minimum price that you’ll accept in order to sell your car. If your reserve isn't met, the car does not sell (and again, you don't pay anything).
An auction without a reserve means that the car will sell to the highest bidder at the end of the auction regardless of price. This guarantees your car will sell, and may attract more attention to it (so potentially you'll get a higher sale price), but of course you risk selling for less than you wanted.
Selling with Peddle
Peddle is one of the quickest ways to get cash for your old or junk vehicle. If your car or truck isn't running, or you're not getting good offers from the options above, Peddle might be the easiest way to turn it into cash, maybe even more than you expected. Just answer a few questions and you'll get an instant offer with up to 7 days to think about it. Once you accept, they'll pick up the vehicle for free and you'll get paid on the spot.
